Anti-coal plant vote
If
Mary Jolley received one vote from every voter, she would have received 10,344
votes, and that would have been 100 percent of the vote
she
could have possibly received. She received 5,148 votes, 50 percent of the total
votes. This is important because she emphatically opposed the city of Great
Falls being involved in building the power plant.
Dona
Stebbins received 41 percent of the total 10,344 votes. She emphatically backed
the City of Great Falls being involved in the building of the plant. Fifty
percent to forty one percent in an election is considered a landslide.
The
voters have spoken. No matter how they feel about the plant itself, they do not
want our city to be involved in its construction.
The
mayor can practice self-delusion if she wants. She might consider that if rules
for electing the mayor hadn't been changed, not so long ago, she would have
been third and the ex-mayor.
