Citizens for Clean Energy
were instrumental in requesting Havre as a
second hearing site about
the coal plant, and we are hopeful that many
residents from that area
will take advantage of this opportunity to
make their feelings known
about the coal plant.
For those able to devote the
time, there will be a Havre pre meeting
at 4 pm Monday 8-7-2006; IN
FRONT OF THE STUDENT UNION BUILDING,
MSU NORTHERN,(200 Cowan
Drive) Havre. A number of college
students from Stone Child College at Rocky Boy Indian Reservation will be
attending the hearing, and we are hoping that many of them will be able to
attend this pre-hearing rally.
Several members of Citizens for Clean Energy will be coming from Great
Falls in order to answer questions, distribute literature, and collect
signatures on the petition. The
college is closing up by 4:30pm on Monday, but anyone who wishes to meet before
the show and tell at 5 pm can meet us in front of the Student Union Building. Stuart Lewin has offered to bring
snacks.
The Havre hearing on the
Draft Environmental Impact Statement for the
Great Falls coal plant will
take place on Monday Aug 7 at 7pm (open
house at 5 pm) in the
Applied Technology Center at MSU Northern (300
West 11th St., Havre,
MT). At the 5 pm open house (same
location) the
proponents and
representatives of MT DEQ and the Rural Utility Service
will be available to answer
questions. (The open house is actually
"closed" house; we
were not allowed to set up our own information
booth, but it is a good opportunity to make your concerns
known to the
proponents).
Additional members of
Citizens for Clean Energy may be coming later,
not for the open house but
for the hearing itself; if you would like to
carpool from Great Falls
please contact Lisa Hardiman at 455-6412.
Each oral presentation
should be about 3 minutes long.
Presenters are encouraged to visit our Citizen for Clean Energy website:
http://homepage.mac.com/neiltaylor1/cce/index.html. There they will
find additional valuable
information to help with oral arguments.
