Serve the public

LetÕs look at what we have to thank our incumbent Commissioners for:  Underhandedly repealing the publicÕs right to vote on use of tax revenues to push through Highwood Generating Station.  Approving timed speaking limits in order to stop public exchange at City meetings.  Participating in closed-door sessions with Tim Gregorie of SME.  Allowing the city to be swindled out of our historic water rights.  Assigning water rights to HGS without requiring adequate compensation.  Preventing public access to information on SME and HGS.  Giving SME reduced rates for Fire and Police protection.  Contributing to the financial sinkhole of ECP and hiding financial losses in the consent agenda.  At any and every request of SME, handing over millions of tax payer dollars.  Embroiling us in multiple lawsuits, necessitating Mill Levies due to the cityÕs involvement with SME. Thank-you also for the Animal Shelter fiasco.

When youÕre voting for the City Commissioners candidates, they should have laudable qualities and abilities, have attended commission meetings more then once, and are involved in and care about our community.

The status quo for our current City Commission has been; uninformed, biased, arrogance, eye rolling, condescending and (nail picking) apathy.  We can no longer afford the good oleÕ boysÕ system, with the exception is Commissioner Mary Jolly, who is rarely compliant with the Mayor or other Commissioners.   Per candidate for City Commissioner Ed McKnight, "The purpose of the City Commission is to serve the people, not rule them."  Please consider newcomers, Kathy Gessaman, Donna Zook and Ed McKnight.
