Dear Senator Baucus,
Have you given any thought as to what could happen to our state
agricultural sales, if the environment in which it is produced were to become
contaminated with toxins? These
toxins will soon be and probably are now coming from coal-fired power
plants. Please see www.cce-mt.org
Currently one of these belching monsters is being shoved down the
throats of our local citizens without much thought about the environmental,
agricultural, and health considerations.
This plant will be constructed with the aid of our Federal
Agricultural Department funding sources. Thousands of us living here oppose
this destructive plan. You should
already have received a petition referencing this point.
It will ruin some of the most productive farmland in our state
needlessly for the benefit of a few.
The power is not now needed here and could be produced much more cheaply
with alternative energy projects or simply upgrade our present old Missouri
river hydro systems which have been in place approaching a century now.
This boondoggle has not been thought out or presented to the
people to vote on. It will cost us
hundreds of millions. It will ruin our health, our environment, and
agricultural livelihoods.
We implore your help in turning this Big Coal behemoth around.
Thank you,
Neil J. Taylor
