Re: Proposed Great Falls Power
Plant
Dear
Sir(s),
As a
resident of Great Falls and property owner in Cascade County, Montana I wish to
express my thoughts regarding the proposed coal fired power plant near Great
Falls (Permits/3423-00). As the
watchdog agency for our environment your office needs to rethink granting
permits, which allow tremendous amounts of pollution to enter into our
environment.
The
current proposal (CFB Boiler), submitted for your action, utilizes 20-year-old
technology and is not the best available coal burning process to protect the
citizens of Montana and our environment.
If a coal fired plant must be built in our area, then as a taxpayer and
Montana citizen, I insist on your requiring the best currently available
technology for this plant which would be an IGCC system with complete Carbon
Dioxide recapture.
This
type of system (IGCC) makes more sense both from an economic standpoint as well
as protecting our environment.
Please
do your job well, research the IGCC methodology, and apply the best
technologies available to this projects permits.
Sincerely,
Neil
Taylor
