Time for answers

Why are you silent on the proposed Highwood Generating Station?

This is an excellent time and opportunity for the presidents of the following organizations to come together: Montana Stockgrowers Association, Montana Grain Growers Association, Farmers Union, National Farmers Organization.

If any of you were located next to a coal plant, wouldn't you want to support the abortion of a 60-year polluting monster affecting the land, air and water? There aren't any exact figures for the amount of mercury, heavy metals and microscopic particles that will be emitted from the plant. We need answers regarding the waste water going back into the Great Falls Water Treatment Center. It is my understanding the present treatment plant does not have the capacity to clean up the water, which would be returned to the river. Fort Benton and Carter may have to change their water treatment capabilities. We need the real facts in this regard.

There is a possibility strip mining could happen in theStockett and Sand Coulee area, so we all need to keep posted on this matter.

Please write your comments to the Cascade County Commissioners before their Jan. 15 meeting or plan to attend the meeting at the Montana ExpoPark at 3 p.m. Also encourage Chouteau County residents to send in their comments.

Urgent action is needed!
