Hello All, WE WON!!
We're ecstatic that CCE/MEIC's appeal of SME's Air Permit (previously granted by the Montana Department of Environmental Quality) has just been remanded, based upon failure of the permit to adequately address the health concerns of releasing approximately 1 ton per day of microscopic particulate pollution (PM 2.5). The April 21 vote by the Montana DEQ Board of Environmental Review was recorded as "6 vs.1" in our favor.
This is a testimony to the talent and dedication of our attorneys, Abigail Dillen and Jenny Harbine. We would not be where we are today if it weren't for the expert guidance and tenacity of Anne Hedges and MEIC. This verdict also points to the legitimacy of the public health concerns raised by CCE throughout this entire process.
